Questions and Answers

What does “You Schedule, One Class at a Time" mean?

What type of training does Four Legged Scholars use?

Reward-based training or positive reinforcement.  Johanna loves Clicker Training.

Are the classes conducted  privately or as a group?

Both. Puppy Kindergarten and Elementary Obedience School are offered in a group setting.  However, any class can be held privately.

Where are the classes held?

Group Courses: Central City Recreation Center, 615 South 300 East, Salt Lake City, 84111.

Tutoring (Private Courses):  Held personally at your home or at a dog park.

How long do the classes last?

Group Courses: Each class is one hour and we meet once a week.  There are eight classes within each course.  You enroll your dog in one to eight class(es).

Tutoring (Private Courses): Each class lasts from one to two hours and will be structured to meet your schedule.  Johanna will recommend a course curriculum for your dog’s education.  The course can last anywhere from one class to more.  If your dog has a strong behavioral habit then classes may last for several weeks.

What classes are offered?

Group Courses: Puppy Kindergarten and Elementary Obedience.  Intermediate Obedience and Tricks are soon to come!  Contact Johanna for more information on these upcoming courses.

Tutoring (Private Courses): From Puppy Kindergarten Obedience Courses to College Obedience Courses for your high school dog graduate.  Behavioral Solutions for anxiety and aggression.

What happens if I miss a class?

Group Courses: The next time the same course is offered you may make up the class.  If you do not make it to the next course no make-ups will be provided. No refunds after the course start date.

Tutoring (Private Courses):  With 24-hour notification your class may be rescheduled otherwise you are charged for your missed class.

Do I have to bring materials to class?

Group Courses: Most materials will be provided.  However, soft yummy treats are required by the owner as well as a leash and collar.  Treat bags, chew toys, gentle leaders, and front hook harnesses will be available to borrow for the classes. Free clicker with paid tuition. What is a clicker? Please no chokers or prong collars in class.

Tutoring (Private Courses): The owner is required to provide all materials: leash, collar, treats, treat bag, and clicker (optional).
