Instructions for Your First Class:
1.) The first class you attend promptly starts at 6:00 for Puppy Kindergarten and 7:30 for Elementary obedience. If you choose to arrive later than 6:00 or 7:30 you will miss material.
2.) When you arrive at the recreation center, enter through the doors that say "Child Care Center." Pass the front desk. Turn right down the hallway. Then go left down the next hallway. Make one more left down the last hallway and walk all the way to the end of the hallway into the "Party Room."
3.) Bring the following materials to each class:
- Four to Six foot cloth leash (no chain leashes, no flexi-leashes)
- Cloth/leather collar (no choker, prong or shock collars). Make sure that your dog cannot slip out of the collar.
- **A full ziploc bag of soft treats that are a pea to a dime in size.** Do NOT bring hard treats such as milk bones. I recommend the Natural Balance Dog Food Log that you can buy at Petco. It is located in the dog food section and comes in a sausage roll. Chop the treats so they are a pea to a dime in size. If you bring less than a ziploc bag of treats you will not have enough treats for class.
- Clicker (Available for sale through Four Legged Scholars = $5 and comes with a wrist band)
- Treat Bag (Available for sale through Four Legged Scholars = $15 clips around your entire waist and shuts easily)
4.) Safety Rules for Class
- **Any occurrences of dog to dog or dog to people aggression will require an immediate behavioral evaluation and possibly immediate removal from the class.**
- Children 8 years of age and older are welcome to attend class as well as other family members or friends that may perform training with your dog. *An adult must attend every class with the children under the age of 18 years.* Please only bring children that are mature enough to follow the dog obedience instructions for the class. We want your child to have fun and also make sure that the doggies and owners remain undisturbed.
- Keep a 5 feet distance between your dog and other dogs. Your dog may only approach other dogs in the class with permission from the instructor and the dog's owner. Dog fights are easily started when both dogs are on leash and they want to play.
